Utah is one of the most homeschool-friendly states in the country, and home to one of the nation's most generous universal ESA scholarship programs.
Annual Notification
File annual written notification with your local school board before the school year begins. Simple form — no approval required, just notice.

Must provide instruction for the same number of days as public schools (180 days). No minimum daily hours required by law.
No Required Subjects
Utah does not mandate specific subjects for home education. No curriculum requirements or subject minimums in state law.
No Testing Required
Utah does not require standardized testing or assessments for homeschool students. Completely at family discretion.
No Parent Qualifications
No teaching license, degree, or minimum education level required to homeschool in Utah.
Utah Fits All Scholarship
Utah's universal ESA program provides $8,000/year per student for approved educational expenses — available to ALL Utah students regardless of income. One of the most generous in the nation.
